Laparoscopic fundoplication is a minimally invasive surgery used to treat GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease). In this procedure, the upper part of the stomach is wrapped around the lower esophagus to strengthen the valve between the esophagus and stomach. This prevents acid reflux, reduces symptoms like heartburn, and promotes healing of the esophageal lining.
